James Edward Doocy, known as “Jim,” was a respected community member and business operator in Abilene, Kansas. Born on April 1, 1933, in Swea City, Iowa, he was the second of seven children to Helen and William Doocy. Jim served as an Army veteran and was recognized for his contributions to the community. He was the longtime operator of Abilene’s Best Western Presidents Inn.

Jim passed away at the age of 80 on February 8, 2014, after a brief illness, at Salina Regional Health Center. He is remembered as a father of five and a benefactor who left a lasting impact on his community. Jim Doocy is also known as the father of Steve Doocy, an American television personality and anchor of “Fox & Friends” on the Fox News Channel. Steve Doocy has had a successful career in media and is married to Kathy Gerrity, with whom he has three children.
